The Kathy Bootz Memorial Cat Sanctuary was created to honor a special client whose time and heart were dedicated to the care of her many cats. When Kathy found a stray cat in her neighborhood (or when they found her - which seems more likely), she was the first to take responsibility for and offer the medical care that was needed to give each cat a chance. When Kathy lost her battle to cancer just after Parkside Animal Care Center opened its doors, she generously made a financial donation to us that would help keep her love of cats alive.
After much planning and finally the participation of Green Bay Animal Rescue (GBAR) and Kathy's husband (a home builder) Mark Bootz, we are very proud to say we have opened the sanctuary in her name. Mark oversaw the building of the sanctuary (including finding outside contractors to donate their time and efforts to get the job done right), while GBAR handles the administrative and volunteer function of the sanctuary by taking in cats, overseeing their care and finding prospective forever homes and processing cat adoptions. In return, we at Parkside Animal Care Center offer what space we have and a discount in care and assistance with medical treatment.
Our hope is that Kathy's memory stays vibrant among all of us who were touched by her kindness and generous love of the pets she was ever willing to care for. Kathy's spirit is alive today in the efforts of all of those inspired to help the sanctuary.
